Featured Presentation:

Interrogating the Transaction Log

Frank Gill, Senior Systems Engineer Concurrency

Frank Gill, who is the Co-President of the Chicago SQL Server User Group, will be speaking on June 29th. More information on the topic and about Frank is below. As a SQL Server DBA, I believe that the transaction log is the most important file in any database. I also believe that understanding how the transaction log works internally will help you make better decisions regarding log file sizing, transaction scope, and indexing. Join me to learn about transaction log architecture, how to see a transaction process in the log, how transaction scope affects log growth, and what happens when a transaction rolls back. Plus, you will see how transactions involving SQL Server 2014's in-memory object are handled by the log!

About Frank:
Frank Gill is a Senior Data Engineer at Concurrency With 19 years of IT experience, the first 8 as a mainframe programmer, he has developed a love of all things internal. When not administering databases or geeking out on internals, Frank volunteers at the Art Institute of Chicago and reads voraciously.

Training Opportunities:

SQL Saturday's

PASS SQLSaturday’s are free 1-day training events for SQL Server professionals that focus on local speakers, providing a variety of high-quality technical sessions, and making it all happen through the efforts of volunteers. Whether you're attending a SQLSaturday or thinking about hosting your own, we think you'll find it's a great way to spend a Saturday – or any day.  I've only listed a few that are in driving distance; many more are listed at the "SQL Saturday" home page.
