Next Meeting

Central Illinois SQL Server User Group January 2015 Meeting

We are going to meet on January 27th at 6:30 PM.  I'm working on a sponsor for our first meeting in 2015, but if not we will find a way to have some sandwiches, chips, and soda.

I have two announcements that I'll make at the meeting pertaining to future speakers (we are very lucky).  I will open the floor to any SQL Server topic you wish to discuss.

Thank you,

Featured Presentation:

SQL Server Many Temporary Tables

Patrick Brewer, Senior Database Analyst Afni

Over the past year, I've had to work on some interesting code, and I found that the various types of temporary tables that SQL Server provides are not always used the most efficient way. Also, while studying for the 70-461 exam on querying SQL Server, I have found some interesting facts about table variables. Please join me for an open discussion on temporary tables and any other SQL Server topic you wish to bring up.

About Patrick:
I live in Central Illinois where I was born, originally from Springfield, Illinois. I started working with SQL Server in 1996 with version 4.2.1 and quickly moved into SQL Server 6.5. I've been a jack of all trades developing windows applications and databases, and then moved to mainly developing database solutions with DTS, SSIS and SSRS. I've always said that I want to give my customers the tools to do their jobs. While I'm not working, I'm an avid sailboat racer in the Star Class. I've sailed all around the United States and competed in the 1999 Star Class World Championships in Punta Ala, Italy. Check out starclass.org. I've been sailing since I was 5 years old and taught sailing for 8 years.

Training Opportunities:

SQL Saturday's

PASS SQLSaturday’s are free 1-day training events for SQL Server professionals that focus on local speakers, providing a variety of high-quality technical sessions, and making it all happen through the efforts of volunteers. Whether you're attending a SQLSaturday or thinking about hosting your own, we think you'll find it's a great way to spend a Saturday – or any day.  I've only listed a few that are in driving distance; many more are listed at the "SQL Saturday" home page.
